Much to catch up on!

Iran and the ‘Freedom Recession’ – Fouad Ajami of the Wall Street Journal comments on the wretched response of the current president to the plight of Iranian dissidents being crushed by the mullahs.

The Cuckoo’s Nest – David Harsanyi of the Denver Post mocks the bitching and moaning of leftists who find normal people like Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman to be out-of-step kooks.

Brown: Goebbels crack ‘jogging talk’ – Maggie Haberman of The Politico writes on Jerry “California Über Alles” Brown’s nasty crack against Meg Whitman. No one talks to that lunatic because he is a gaffe machine that would make Vice-President Biden look as eloquent as William F. Buckley.

For Your Weekend Reading – If John Derbyshire is recommending books for your perusal, you may want to take him up on it. As a fine author on the subject of mathematics, he has impeccable taste in reading material. He will post his list at the Wall Street Journal, and I will place the link here when it’s up.

IPN announces Ninth Annual Bastiat Prize Competition – From the website: “For the ninth year, International Policy Network (IPN) is accepting submissions for its annual Bastiat Prize for Journalism. The Prize is open to writers anywhere in the world whose published articles eloquently and wittily explain, promote and defend the principles and institutions of the free society. Submissions must be received on or before 30 June 2010.”

Politically Correct Warfare – Arnold Ahlert of Jewish World Review wonders why the West has lost its spine when it comes to warfare.

Lee Harvey Oswald and the Liberal Crack-Up – An interesting essay by James Pierson of Commentary Magazine on where liberalism became unhinged.

New Silicon Graffiti Video: 1969—The Death of Modernism – Ed Driscoll offers more in regards to the liberal crackup.

Liberal Fascism: The Font – Another by Ed Driscoll. I love typography, and am probably among a handful of conservatives who enjoy avant-garde art movements. There’s something to the Helvetica font being utterly fascistic, though.

Conservatives for Kagan – Is Stuart Taylor at The Atlantic Magazine serious?! I didn’t know June 11 was a second April Fool’s Day.

A Special Relationship in Jeopardy – Eric Edelman comments on the sad state of affairs the Anglo-American relationship is in.

The Long and Foggy War

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Liberals continue to prove what a clueless lot they are. It is as if the concept that a supporter of Al Qaeda would want to actually kill Americans indiscriminately is too mind-bogglingly unbelievable for these people to grasp. Cliff May at TownHall.com writes on The Long and Foggy War, an apt title for the left’s political blindness.

The Santa Cruz Riot

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

James Taranto makes the comparison of how pseudo-Anarchist thugs tear up Santa Cruz and how older, more genteel Tea Party protestors actually clean up any mess they make. I remember from going to punk shows what dirtbags those kids were, and it seems nothing has changed with them.

Car bomb scares Times Square but fails to explode

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Times Square avoided a huge bullet yesterday. A poorly-designed by potentially powerful bomb was found in the park, and tourists had to be removed from the area for approximately 10 hours.

After Justice Stevens

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

The next round of ideological pulverization begins, as a true liberal lion (and not a wayward drunk like the recently-deceased Senator of Camelot) has decided to end his career. President Obama and Congress will have a brutal partisan battle to see who will fill John Paul Stevens’ seat in October.

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board comments further here.

Bin Laden threatens US over alleged 9/11 plotter

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

What chutzpah this devil has. It would be more appropriate if Khalid Sheik Mohammed was hung, drawn, quartered and boiled in pig grease, though most Americans would be satisfied with a lethal injection for that murderer. It is only a shame that Bin Laden hasn’t been given the hangman’s noose yet.

The Health Care Debacle

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Some good reading for you: Show Time for Health Care by Ross Douthat Congress health care vote: a dark day for freedom in America by Nile Gardiner Health Care Isn’t Civil Rights by Bill Kristol Democrats To America: Drop Dead by the Washington Examiner Editorial Board Calm Despair by John Derbyshire EXCLUSIVE: Plouffe and Rove Battle It Out Over Health Care Reform at The Note Senate Fight Starts: GOP Says Senate Parliamentarian Will Kill Fix-Its Bill at The Note What’s In The Bill by Hugh Hewitt The Healthcare bill is not about healthcare, but statism by Victor Davis Hanson

This is Big (Not really, but we can hope!)

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

News sources in the Pakistani media reported, falsely, that Adam Gadahn, the so-called American Taliban (since the twerp bearing that name, John Walker Lindh has slithered like a worm into obscurity) and all-around doughboy, had been captured in Karachi. It turns out that a chap called Abu Yahya, who may be from Pennsylvania, was the person caught in a raid by Pakistani security forces. Could this be another alias for the turncoat? The Los Angeles Times has yet to print a retraction, so one can only hope that the coward has been picked up. Should they find Gadahn, one can hope that he be dealt the justice befitting a traitor.

Karadzic: Sarajevo and Srebrenica crimes are myths

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The Balkan Wars of the 1990s are a very, very touchy subject for many people, even those who are either members of the Yugoslavian diaspora or their friends. I myself attend a Serbian Orthodox church, and I lived in the Balkans for a considerable amount of time living in Macedonia, so my natural affinity is for my fellow congregants. The problem is that thuggery was allowed to usurp religion in the area, and butchers on all three sides hijacked religion for their own purposes. I’ve been following the Radovan Karadžić trial with great interest because I’ve been waiting to hear his rationale for what he’s been charged with, essentially genocide. He claims that the seige of Sarajevo was nothing but a myth, and that what Bosnian Serbs did was “just and holy.” Say what you will about the merits of Karadžić’s claims, but the fact does remain that Serbs were butchered about as badly as Bosniaks and Croats were.
